Marriage, family, and individual therapy from a 25-year Army veteran who has walked the path. Vernon Nelson Butler, LMFT, provides compassionate, practical counseling for the LawtonβFort Sill community.
Vernon Nelson Butler isn't the kind of therapist who learned about challenges from a textbook. After 25 years of active-duty service in the U.S. Army β including two combat deployments β he knows what it means to carry weight that others can't see. He understands the toll that military life takes on marriages, on families, and on the service members themselves.
After retiring from the Army, Vernon spent 15 years in retail management, leading teams and solving problems in fast-paced environments. But a deeper calling pulled him forward. In 2012, he enrolled in Cameron University's psychology program with one mission: to serve his community as a counselor.
Today, Vernon brings that rare combination of military experience, business leadership, and clinical training to every session. His approach is warm but direct β no wasted time, no judgment, just honest work toward the life you want to live.
He proudly serves the Black, African American, and Native American communities in Lawton and surrounding areas, and believes deeply that every person deserves a therapist who sees them, respects their journey, and understands their world.
